After checking out, you will immediately be sent a detailed questionnaire. Once you fill out and send that questionnaire to [email protected] along with a Word version of your resume, we will match you up within 24 hours to your expert resume reviewer based on your target industry and position. Your reviewer will introduce him/herself and then proceed to review your current resume and questionnaire.

Over the following days, you should expect a detailed list of follow up questions. This is to ensure that your reviewer is putting you in the best possible light for your target industry. After several iterations with you, the reviewer will provide you with a first draft along with a list of changes and reasons for the change. Usually clients are very happy with this initial draft, but we are always willing to work with you to refine the resume even further and answer any follow up questions you may have for up to 2 weeks.

In the regular resume review service (not the Rush service), if you are responsive to follow up questions from the reviewer, you can expect a first draft within 4 to 7 days after you submit your questionnaire. After a few more iterations, typically a regular resume review is completed in 7 - 10 days or up to two weeks for difficult or more complex cases.

The rush resume review service (+$100 during checkout) speeds up this initial process and ensures you at least have a first draft within 48 hours after submitting your questionnaire (this assumes you follow up within 2 hours to your reviewers questions). Obviously, the more responsive you are, the faster the process will be. For the last iteration and final draft, the rush resume review service typically takes 4 to 7 days total. Oftentimes, if client have a strict deadline to meet, applicants will start submitting their first draft version because it is still significantly better than their original draft.

Usually these are all self-limiting beliefs, but let's address each one:

Too Young / Too Inexperienced: We do NOT recommend our resume review service until you at least have at least some relevant WORK experience that we can put on your resume. For the young clients out there, this means an internship, ideally in your target or related industry. If you are a freshman in college/university, it is unlikely that you have this experience. The earliest we'd recommend doing a resume review is late freshman or early sophomore year as you prepare for summer internship recruiting.

If you have no relevant experience then it probably doesn't make sense to sign up for the service. Our reviewers are amazing, but they aren't magicians. If you tell us you really want to be in Investment Banking or Private Equity (for example) and everything on your resume points to law or medicine, it's going to be an uphill battle. On the other hand, if you have unrelated experience but you have started the transition process by taking relevant classes and joining relevant clubs and associations, we'd love to work with you. You may not be the most competitive candidate, but we will highlight the most relevant education and functions at your current job that would translate well across industries.

Too Old / Too Experienced: We DO recommend our resume review service for more experienced professionals that are looking to make a transition or just polish their old CV that has built up some cobwebs. We have several very senior resume reviewers that can answer the tough questions and make sure you are up to date on the latest trends in your target industry. However, before you move forward, we encourage you to give yourself an honest assessment. If you are looking to make the transition and have not made any steps outside of considering this resume review, you probably aren't ready. If you've taken steps (education, new degrees, courses, etc) and feel like you're ready, we're on board and eager to help!

If this is your attitude then you should just give up now. Similarly, if you think a polished resume will land you the job, please don't bother to hire us. A professionally reviewed resume is just the initial step in a rigorous and competitive process to landing a great job. You are going up against the best and the brightest. Once you are armed with a great resume, you can't just sit back and do online submissions hoping to get picked out of the thousands of other applicants in your shoes. Response rates for online resume submissions for the top candidates with polished resumes are less than 10%. For non-target students and/or applicants with low GPAs, this can plummet all the way down to 1-3%. That is some ugly math.

In other words, even with a new resume, you will need to network. A LOT. The lower your GPA and the more unknown your school is, the harder you'll have to work to land those coveted interview spots. If this doesn't deter you and you are ready to put in that work, we would be honored to help you make that first step in the right direction with a resume that will impress and open doors. If we can improve your response rate from 1% to 5%, for example, that doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a dramatic 500% increase. Instead of hearing back from 1 out of every 100 applications (depressing), you would be hearing back from 1 out of every 20. If you couple this with aggressive networking, you will be well on your way to landing interviews and securing an offer.

This is a personal question and the answer is naturally subjective. If you are serious about landing a job in investment banking, private equity, hedge funds, trading, Asset Management, management consulting or any other competitive industry, it's more than likely that the answer to that question is a resounding "YES".

Career services advisers at your school are not screening resumes for interviews...neither are your classmates. If you do happen to have a friend in the industry, are they going to take the hours necessary to produce a great finished product? Are they willing to go line by line to reword and reformat your resume? Odds are that their time is limited outside the office and if they do give you a review, it won't be nearly as thorough an experience as our expert reviewers will give you. If you look at the competitive nature of recruiting nowadays, why would leave the quality of such an important document up to chance when many of these jobs pay well over $100,000?
